The 27th World Canals Conference is to be held in Italy for the first time, and will be based in one of the ‘birthplaces’ of European canals: Milan, from Monday 1st to Thursday 4th September 2014. The public agency for development of Milan’s canals, Navigli Lombardi, is putting together a conference that will be both informative and spectacular. Aware of the importance of the event, some of the regular institutional partners of Navigli Lombardi have agreed to provide specific services to contribute to its success. These include the Milan Chamber of Commerce, the Milan Public Transport authority ATM, the Fondazione Fiera, and the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2015 in Milan. >> to the Conference web site.
Successful WCC in Syracuse
Many IWI members enjoyed the World Canals Conference held in Syracuse, NY, on September 24-28, with more than 350 attendants from 12 countries. Read our blog post on the event by president David Edwards-May. Members who took part in other tours are invited to add their comments.
WCCO in Yangzhou
IWI took part in the spring meeting of the World Canal Cities Organisation in Yangzhou on April 18-19. David Edwards-May was appointed special adviser to the organisation, founded by the City of Yangzhou, alongside past president Dave Ballinger and other experts from Asia and Europe. The annual forum and expo will take place in early September 2017.
