The World Canal Conference 2023 online

Following Covid disruption to the planned WCC schedule, there is no in-person conference in 2023.

In its place, IWI is hosting a series of ‘webinars’ covering important waterways issues, presented by experts from all over the world.

The monthly webinars will run from June to November with a break in August, and are free to attend, although participants must register in advance on Zoom Events.

The first theme is working with volunteer organisations to manage canals, presented by Éanna Rowe of Waterways Ireland on June 15.

The other four subjects are China’s historic Lingqu Canal, different approaches to regenerating canals (comparing experience in the USA and UK), how inland waterways boating can have less environmental impact, and the impacts of canal restoration on urban regeneration, highlighting Canada’s Lachine Canal and the Roubaix Canal in France.

For more information about the webinar series, starting on June 15, 2023, see our World Canals Conference page.
